Description

The successful candidate will be working under the general direction of the Student Services Department; this position is responsible for supporting the successful development and growth of international students within St. Jude’s Academy, an IB World School, in Mississauga, Ontario.

The Program Coordinator will handle multiple tasks, simultaneously, relating to the international student population, while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.

The Program Coordinator will develop and implement Academic and Social programming that fosters the learning of the English language using engaging and enjoyable approaches.

The Program Coordinator will plan both educational and fun excursions and hands-on workshops to meet the ever-changing needs of international learners.

The Program Coordinator uses prudent judgment to develop credible and meaningful relationships with organizations and/or the community through outreach initiatives and works closely with Student Services to identify opportunities and resolve concerns.

This position requires flexibility in hours (weekdays and some weekends) in order to accommodate the needs of the international student clientele.

Responsibilities

  • The position requires an individual who is highly relational and has a love of working with youth (middle school/high school)
  • Programming of activities in Outdoor Education facilities or at Summer/Day camps an asset
  • Communication with clients (students and parents) to build strong relationships among the school community

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary Degree in Education or related field. Relevant combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Strong command of the English language (oral and written); exceptional interpersonal skills and able to interact effectively with a wide group of diverse individuals to foster positive relationships
  • Proficient knowledge of email, the internet and Microsoft Office tools as a means of professional communication with different stakeholders
  • Ability to problem-solve and make decisions under pressure and respond to unanticipated or unusual events quickly and professionally, exercising initiative, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced business environment, under pressure of frequent deadlines, interruptions and changing priorities
  • Experience in a fast-paced client services environment providing timely support to a large, diverse client group, specifically youth (ages 14-18)
